Choosing Fonts

check out the post right here This is actually a rather important part of developing a FileMaker database as opposed to creating a database with a different application. When I started database programming and used Microsoft Access, I wasn’t really too bothered about the font I used. I just used the one that I thought looked the best! And you can still do this in FileMaker, but if you want to take your database to iPhones and iPad then there is only some fonts that are compatible! ( Skip to the bottom to see the list of compatible iOS fonts ).

If you ever look at a layout that has an incompatible font through an iOS device, FileMaker deals with this by changing the font to a compatible one. The problem with this is that different fonts have different sizes, character spacing and line spacing. So changing font can make your buttons, portal views, tabs and rows look very different! Some fields may change so much that you can only read half the text or it does not fit in the desired space!

So it is wise just giving a few moments to read through the below list and planning how you will design your database!

This list is available in the FileMaker 12 Manual. The same list applies to FileMaker 13.

Thank you Jeremy for finding the list of iOS 7 fonts. However I cannot actually find a list from FileMaker themselves specifying compatible fonts for iOS 7. The list I have above was written by FileMaker with the release of FileMaker 12.
